Chapter 12

After a whole month of getting acquainted with each other’s families Mariah and Hassan were happy that everyone loved each other. Her parents loved Hassan. Both of her parents believed that Hassan was a major step up from Donte. Hassan was the kind of man they trusted their daughter with. They didn’t care for Donte since he was a street guy but on top of that was the fact that he kept hurting their daughter. Hassan’s parents loved Mariah. They felt like she carried herself well. Mariah even met Keisha, Jeremy’s mother. She thought it was going to be awkward but it wasn’t. She could see the good friendship that Hassan and Keisha had. Keisha reassured Mariah that she didn’t have anything going on with Hassan except the fact that they shared a son together. Keisha liked Mariah too. She was happy that Hassan found someone he was really involved with. She was even more comfortable knowing that Hassan had Jeremy around a decent woman and not a groupie hoe.

“Babe I bought my first house today in a long time,” Mariah said to Hassan.

“That’s good baby. I’m proud of you.”

Mariah decided to get back to work since she was going to be running out of her money soon. Mariah bought foreclosure homes and flipped them with her interior decorating. She loved what she did since it consisted of shopping all day. She was good at what she did. Once she put her houses up for sale on the market it usually sold fast.

“I get the keys sometime this week then I’ll start decorating it as soon as possible.”

“I respect you for working. I’ve been trynna help you out but you flat out refuse every time,” Hassan said.

“I could handle myself. If you and I weren’t together I would be doing the same thing still.”

Hassan felt like it was his duty for providing for Mariah but she fought him against it every time. He did what she allowed him to from time. He understood that she was independent and didn’t need anything from him but she needed to quit it and let him be the man.
